May 9 is World Fair Trade Day. A special edition, because we must celebrate it at home.
Choose fair trade in these difficult times! With your purchase, producers of your favourite fair trade product receive a fair income and you are giving the Belgian fair trade businesses a well-deserved boost too.
Both need your support: fair trade producers around the world have seen their sales drop sharply in recent weeks; they often do not have a buffer to cover such a loss. Small (fair trade) businesses here in Belgium had to close their shops for weeks and have irreparably lost a large part of their turnover.
Choose fair trade products and show double solidarity, with the producers and the distribution businesses.
Participate to the photo contest!
Show us, and everyone else in the world, that you prefer fair trade, even in corona times.
Post on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and/or Instagram as many selfies as you can with your favourite fair trade product(s) with the hashtags #BelgiumLovesFairTrade and #StayHomeLiveFair. Tag the fair trade brand, label and shop and let them know you haven’t forgotten them! You can also participate with your organisation or company – but keep it safe and keep at a safe distance.
The person or organisation with the most original photo and the person or organisation with the highest number of different* fair trade products can win a basket of fair trade products.
*This can be on one or more photos, as long as they are posted by the same person/organisation or company.
What fair trade products are there and where can I find them?
We are glad to list them for you. Mind, this list is by no means complete. But let it inspire you. And do discover more for yourself.
Many shops, also smaller ones, have recently invested in online shopping. Check it out!

Organic and local products
In these pandemic times, it is also very important to support local producers who are in direct contact with consumers via short circuits. We need to increase the resilience of our food chains.
